CC Fontana

CC Fontana She's not over-rated; she's not over-sexed; and she's not over-played. Well, she's not over-played...yet. Don't be surprised though, if the airways are soon flooded by the sweet and infectious melodies of 19-year-old pop heir CC Fontana. The former Wilhelmina model is letting the world know, just for the record. Not only can she take a killer picture, she can also make a hot album.

Raised on Long Island, New York, Fontana moved to LA at the age of 15 with blistering ambitions to have a successful career in entertainment. "I was so focused on the industry," she says. "I knew one day I'd be successful in it." What exactly is a successful career to Fontana? She cites fellow Long Island native Mariah Carey as her favorite singer and her role model on a short list of musical heroes that includes Missy Elliot, P.Diddy, and Jay-Z. "They're all artists who concentrated on what they were best at, which is really important when you can do a lot," Fontana admits. "The more you focus on something, the better [chance you have at it.] " It's a subject she definitely speaks on of her own experience. Fontana was just 7 years old when her mother introduced her to the modeling world. In retrospect, it is a decision that the up-and-comer is appreciative of, although as in many cases, it was the catalyst of sacrifices in educational and social normality. She ultimately found herself leaving the business because," I don't want to change for them," she says. "They always have something to say about your size or your shape, and I'm happy with my curves." Of Venezuelan and Italian descant, Fontana credits Jennifer Lopez as being an excellent role model of self-image.

Unlike many of her MTV bound counterparts, Fontana also has plans of becoming a formidable role model. It's a brave feat considering the media frenzy and public scrutiny that certain other former proclaimers of youth leadership are experiencing these days. It doesn't phase the young star. "Sex sells, but you don't have to be all sexual to sell it," she says. "You can make something suitable for a younger audience, that has a great beat." Fontana stresses that it's not her intention to maintain squeaky-clean innocence forever, but rather to grow WITH young girls, "very slowly." So, no. She won't be cavorting around the video set in her barely there's or suggesting anything to the world, she wouldn't her mother, but don't take Fontana's expression of moderation to be the precursor of a boring act. When all is said and done the name of the game is entertainment and in her own words, "It's not like I'm going to be promoting Barbie Dolls."

It's a good thing that CC Fontana's star is as likely as her future ambitions, because she is certainly not reserved about those. "I see myself owning a lot of businesses in the industry, record label, production company, perfume line, shoe line. I want to create an empire," she says. She looks forward to writing her own material and is even interested in managing other young artists. " I would like to give girls an easier route [to the entertainment industry.] There are a lot of them out there trying to get managers and only getting lied to." Fontana's wisdom of the industry is matched by her wit of its pitfalls. Who is the first celebrity she'll date? "Uh...I don't think I'll date anybody in the industry, y'know...those damn tabloids."
