MOVIE REVIEW
Just Like Heaven
Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo
Directed by: Mark Waters
Written by Peter Tolan and Leslie Dixon
If you are willing to suspend disbelief as most moviegoers want to do when they take their seats in the theater popcorn in hand, this film will delight and uplift your spirits.
There's no deep, meaningful ending, it's just a sweet film with two fine, gifted young actors.
A widowed, lonely young architect, David [Ruffalo (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 13 Going on 30)] finds the spirit of the beautiful, obsessively neat Elizabeth [Witherspoon (Vanity Fair, Sweet Home Alabama)] in his newly rented apartment and she refuses to live because she believes it is still hers.
It turns out she has no memory of who she is, how she got there, why she isn't living there and most baffling of all, why David is the only person who can actually see her (except for later her 3 year-old niece).
There are plenty of twists and turns and laughs and touching moments and surprises along the way as the twosome journey to find out who Elizabeth is and what can be done to return her to her body whether it be on Earth or elsewhere.
There's sweet chemistry between the two actors, Ruffalo is charming and Witherspoon is smart and spunky and as likeable as always. It's a winning romantic comedy.
