MOVIE REVIEW
In the Land of Women
Warner Bros.
The influences and varying relationships of a 26-year-old writer and the women in his life are the focus for Jon Kasdan's debut, In the Land of Women.
This film deftly examines the fine line between platonic and romantic relationships. It is touching, funny and realistic.
Carter [an attractively emo Adam Brody] hopes for a reprieve from L.A. and thoughts of his starlet ex-girlfriend while staying with his acerbic, off-kilter grandmother [Olympia Dukakis] in Michigan.
He opens up to his 40-something neighbor [Meg Ryan] and hangs out with her teenage daughter [Kristen Stewart].
This sweet film does not perfectly wrap up with ribbon and fancy paper, making it much more special and memorable.
