MUSIC REVIEW
Band: The Dresden Dolls
Album: "The Dresden Dolls"
Label: 8ft records
Boston's Dresden Dolls reign supreme with its fresh, original Goth cabaret style.
You may be amazed and thrilled by how much The Dresden Dolls can do with these two instruments: piano and percussion.
Vocalist/pianist Amanda Palmer's voice is bold, yet vulnerable and combined with the visionary percussion by Brian Viglione, the songs have an edge and feel like no other.
Whether with the relentlessly sad and honest "Good Day,"-"I'd rather be a bitch than an ordinary broken heart," the circus-like music combined with the sarcastic words on "Girl Anachronism," or the tongue-in-cheek "Coin-Operated Boy," this duo manages to produce dark, sharp, witty, truthful commentaries.
The Dresden Dolls is a wickedly crisp, entertaining and remarkably talented band.
