MUSIC REVIEW
Band: Ivy
Album: "In the Clear"
Label: Nettwerk America LLC
On In the Clear, the band's fourth release, Ivy maintains its exquisite sound and underlying moodiness while presenting tighter, more complicated, lush arrangements and a denser, mature sound.
Parisian-born singer Dominique Durand lends a mysterious, sultry sound through her singing. Her voice engulfs you as the music wraps you in its warmth and spirit.
Stand-outs include the dreamy, atmospheric "Nothing But the Sky," is dreamy and atmospheric, while "Keep Moving" boasts angelic vocals against a stylized sonic collage, there's a mesmerizing groove on "I've Got You Memorized" and "Thinking About You" is hopeful and strong.
Ivy is still as bittersweet sounding as when I first heard the band a decade ago and instantly became a fan. Ivy has smoothed out the rough edges and produced songs with clear focus and depth.
In the Clear is pure bliss.
