MUSIC REVIEW
Band: Sarah Fimm
Album: "neXus"
Label: Sarah Fimm, LLC
On her third album, neXus, ambitious singer/songwriter and pianist Sarah Fimm has created a beautifully haunting and romantic album.
neXus weaves together songs based around the theme of connection. Stunning arrangements propel the opening track "Losing Velocity," genuine emotions are expresses through the title track where she sings: "Just in case the world rejects us/ I'm coming down through the nexus," then a track like "Sky is Falling Down" embraces the essence of being alone in a wide open world.
Amidst the kicky beat of "Story of Us," Fimm wonders in a heart wrenching Dido-fashion: "As our differences divide us/ Must I listen here in silence/ To what is becoming what never was."
The Stamford, Conn. native and former Berklee College of Music student combines lulling vocal harmonies (comparable to Sarah McLachlan), unique musical compositions and deep lyrics for an enrapturing album.
One of the most impressive independent albums I've ever heard, neXus is an exquisite display of artistry and beauty that sparkles from beginning to end.
