Static of the Gods - Cycles Follow Signs Band: Static of the Gods
Album: "Cycles Follow Signs"

Jen Johnson (voice, guitar and keyboard) has such a strong, Tracy Bonham-esque voice at the beginning of "Between Us" and then it shifts to angelic and lilting. She plays with various nuances of her voice as needed to convey the many emotions and layers dwelling in her soul.

On this debut album Cycles Follow Signs, the music of Boston-based Static of the Gods is upbeat and refreshing. Most of the time, Johnson's voice is soft and inviting and complements the ripping drumbeats, fervent guitar and grooving bass that propel most of the songs.

On "The Offering," the vocals are yearning and the beat is a bit swaying and shimmery.

"Swing and Sway" is a cool, gothic-infused melodic song while "City is Closed" is all pop from the jump with churning guitar and sweet lyrics.

Cycles Follow Signs is an ingenious blend of style, composition, talent and ambition.
