...more than just talk
Tune into Kim Serafin's KABC Radio show each weekend in Southern California and you'll hear an eclectic mix of pop culture, entertainment, current events and politics that are as varied as Kim's own background.
Whether she's advocating a cause that she is passionate about (such as animal welfare or stem cell research), interviewing one of the top Hollywood players, or analyzing an issue of the day from her politically centrist viewpoint, you can always expect a lively, informative, and often humorous discussion where all opinions are welcome. Her guests reflect that diversity: on her show, she's interviewed everyone from her former bosses Rudy Giuliani and Richard Riordan, to entertainment industry leaders like Steven Bochco, Lawrence Bender and Jerry Zucker.
Kim has also been a guest herself on a variety of TV shows and networks. She was a regular contributor to Oxygen and MSNBC. She's the host of a travel show on the Fine Living Network, and has appeared on everything from Politically Incorrect and ESPN's Cold Pizza, to American Candidate on Showtime. She was recently featured in a comedic sketch on The Tonight Show and, as an actress, has had roles on sitcoms including The Single Guy and Boy Meets World, as well as in many musical theatre productions at Equity and summer stock theatres.
Like her radio show, Kim's career has always straddled politics and entertainment. While she was working as a Deputy Press Secretary for Mayor Rudy Giuliani and attending NYU at night, she still found time to take off to appear in national commercials as well as appearing on a couple of episodes of Spin City.
When you hear her on the radio, you'll realize Kim is an independent thinker, and she has always gravitated to people who are the moderates and independents in politics today. In addition to working for Rudy Giuliani in his Mayoral administration and as the Deputy Director of Communications and spokes-
person for his NY State Senate campaign, she also worked for Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan; first as a Deputy Press Secretary in his Mayoral administration and then as the Press Secretary on his gubernatorial campaign. Kim was also the spokesperson for the Twin Towers Fund - the fund founded by Mayor Giuliani to benefit families of the uniformed service heroes who sacrificed their lives on September 11th.
As a writer, Kim has been published in Cosmo and The NY Post. She is the author of two books: one for children about the California Missions. And, being a longtime vegetarian herself, a book for teens entitled Everything You Need to Know About Being a Vegetarian.
Though Kim was raised on Long Island and spent many years living in NYC, she is probably still more comfortable on the E train to Times Square than surfing - which she'd love to learn! She now makes her home in Los Angeles where she lives with her adorable dog Derek, a rescued Pekingese.
