MOVIE REVIEW
Fighting Tommy Riley
Starring: J.P. Davis, Eddie Jones, Christina Chambers, Diane M. Taylor
This is a film that was produced in the true sense of independent filmmaking with a result that excels others made by major studios.
J.P. Davis wrote the script and stars along with veteran actor Eddie Jones in a sensitively presented story about a young boxer who has literally given up on his dream of becoming a champion.
Jones plays a former Marine Corps boxing team standout, who sees Davis working out in a gym and convinces his business partner (Diane M. Taylor) to invest training time and money in the young athlete. Despite many objections, Jones begins a rigorous training program and, several month's later, they win the first fight. Former girlfriend (Christina Chambers) returns to add another facet to Davis' comeback despite several temptations, quirky twists and turns in the story.
Whether you are a sports fan or not, this film will create a "wake-up" for anyone no matter what career or personal goals a may have.
Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby won an Oscar by a split decision. Fighting Tommy Riley wins by a decisive knockout!
