Beating the Pain Game with the New Media M.D.
Dr. Moshe Lewis, aka The Jet MD, will soon join the rank and file of other celebrity media M.D.'s. His media savvy methods have landed him on ABC, USA Today, CBS, NBC, KISS FM and a host of other major media outlets.
An innovative medical specialist, Lewis currently serves as a Pain Management expert for health advice sites including Dr. Oz's Sharecare, Everyday Health and Smart Now. Having been featured on a number of radio shows, Dr. Lewis is in talks to create and host multi-media programming that utilizes varied platforms to broaden the reach and scope of his cutting edge techniques.
So what does he do? Chronic pain currently affects more than 50 million Americans. That's more than double the number of people currently diagnosed with diabetes! Dr. Lewis teaches his patients how to take control of their pain through integrative medicine instead of rushing them in and out of his office with just enough time to prescribe ten different drugs. He learns each patient's story leading up to the cause of their chronic pain and then creates a unique pain management plan based on the needs of the individual.
"Every person is unique," says Dr. Lewis. "Therefore, his or her treatment plan must be customized." Word of Dr. Lewis's innovation is quickly spreading. Based near San Francisco in Redwood City, CA, Dr. Lewis treats anyone in need of pain management - not just the elite - but he also travels to Los Angeles on a regular basis to tape shows and treat professional athletes and celebrities, who have come to value him for his success rate, caring bedside manner...and discretion.
"By experimenting and listening to my patients' bodies, I find the specific combination of treatments that work best for them," explains Dr. Lewis, who combines cutting edge state of the art modalities (such as a non-surgical bionic knee!) with older forms of medicine, such as acupuncture and cupping. Chronic pain - especially caused by afflictions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia - affects approximately 25 percent of the U.S. population and three-fifths of adults 65 or older.
To achieve optimal results, Dr. Lewis works side by side with such specialists as hypnotherapists, osteopaths, acupuncturists and cupping therapists, prolotherapy therapists, chiropractors, physical therapists, Lymph Edema specialists and myofascial release therapists.
Dr. Lewis strives to deliver the best possible outcomes by providing patients with high-quality care in a compassionate, respectful and culturally sensitive environment. His refusal to immediately turn to pharmaceuticals makes him somewhat of a renegade in the medical field, and it is this increasingly rare quality of integrity that is rapidly garnering the respect of his patients and colleagues alike.
"The continued blend of traditional and non-traditional medicine will yield the best results when treating pain," he says. "I'm not just trying to cover the pain; I'm going to the source of the pain in order to actually fix it."
