LONDON - PART II
Travel to Europe usually involves flying through London's Heathrow International and finding connecting flights to other destinations on your itinerary. British Airways (BA) has recently completed a total revamping of their terminal facility there and is currently underway with reshaping their terminal at New York's JFK airport.
Last Fall, BA inaugurated a totally new cabin configuration on many of its planes for "business" class, promising to offer travelers the options to work, view movies or sleep whenever they wished during their flight.
Air France now offers non-stop service across "the pond" from LAX,
Cunard Fall and Winter cruises are offering a variety of perks and new features for every member of the family or couple on their vessels.
It's official, London is the best destination in the world having won the prestigious World's Leading Destination Award at the 12th Annual World Travel Awards. Voted by thousands of professionals from the travel industry, London beat competition from the likes of Sydney, Cape Town, Las Vegas, Paris, Rome, New York and Barcelona to take the coveted title.
As we continue our three part series it is time to focus on some of London's best hotels. One of our favorites is a 5-Star Luxury & Boutique Hotel in central London with understated elegance, impeccable service and authentic English grandness. It is the kind of hotel for those who wish to enjoy the ambience of a traditional English hotel, set in a very quiet environment. A favorite of film stars and royalty with understated elegance and authentic English grandness, the Draycott Hotel is more than just a 5-Star town house suite hotel; it occupies three red-brick Edwardian homes just around the corner from Chelsea's Sloane Square and Kensington. Staying in this elegant town house will evoke a sense of old world romantic charm and elegance for which the city of London is so famous. Here you will feel as though you are home. It is perhaps the most unique feature of this hotel. It really makes you feel that you are in your own home in London with your favorite house staff.
On the other end of the spectrum is the exciting Radisson Edwardian Hampshire Hotel located in the heart of the theatre district. This 5-Star hotel dominates the corner of Leicester Square, famous for its glamorous film premieres. This luxury hotel is one of our top choices because it combines grandeur with elegance, comfort and value, everything a great hotel should be - plus an exciting location close to all the major attractions including Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Soho, China Town, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, Regent and Oxford Streets. We love this hotel for its location and the décor of the rooms, which are richly appointed, luxurious with beautiful marble bathrooms and designer furnishings. Everything about this hotel is perfection.
Our third favorite "must stay" hotel is the prestigious 5-Star Baglioni Hotel located in Kensington, one of the most elegant areas in London, opposite the famed Kensington Palace and Hyde Park with its beautiful gardens. With 67 stunning rooms, the Baglioni is an exclusive retreat from the pressures of everyday life. Although situated in the heart of London, this boutique hotel is Italian through and through, a very fine example of "Uno Stile di Vita!" (A Style of Life). The moment you walk into the lobby you feel the Italian hospitality and experience a sense of luxury that is put into every detail of the hotel. The hotel is a short distance from the Royal Albert Hall, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Natural History Museum. The unique touches like the chauffeur driven Maserati Quattroporte available to guests at no charge for short trips and your personal butler ensure that your stay is an unforgettable one. You will always remember the hospitality shown by the hotel's staff.
If you are traveling to London for the first or the hundredth time do yourself a favor and stay at one of our top picks to rest your head. I promise it will make your time in this fantastic city even more wonderful.
